The kindergartners in Ashton Smith’s class have learned three ways to spell the /k/ sound: ‘c’, ‘k’, and ‘-ck’. When a student makes a logical mistake, putting ‘-ck’ at the beginning of a word, Ms. Smith of Hope-Hill Elementary School in Atlanta offers immediate, positive feedback, helping the student find and correct his error. With his permission, she then shares the mix-up with the class so all students can learn from it.
