Local Iowa Schools to Focus on Early Literacy, STEM This School Year

Reading pledges, family book nights and small group instruction are among a variety of methods to be tapped this year as schools home in on early literacy. Susie Meade, superintendent of the Winterset Community School District, says schools across the state arefinding their own ways to connect the classroom to the real world. "There are robotics clubs, there are Lego Leagues -- not your typical science classes."
