Local New York School Program Builds Literacy with Hammers and Nails

Binghamton area businesses are helping young readers build bookcases. The project is part of the Binghamton City School District's Early Reading First Program. Now in its third year, Reading First runs during the school year and for six weeks during the summer to keep students' skills fresh, said Assistant Superintendent Tonia Thompson.
