Karri Bielwicz worried for her husband's safety, the stability of her marriage, and the inability for her husband, Ken, and daughter, Abigail — with whom she was five months pregnant at the time of Ken's departure — to bond during Abigail's first few months. By reading five books a week to a camera, Ken ensures that he won't be a stranger to his own daughter when he returns in February; she already recognizes his voice and his facial features simply by listening to his bedtime stories.
