Dear Kitty,
It is year 2034 and I am the first woman president of America. It is a holiday today because of President's Day. This is my first letter from the oval office.
Let me tell you about the White House and things I am going to change. I am going to change the color of the state dining room to yellow so that I have yellow, blue, green, and red rooms. I am going to change the china room into a kids play area and have toys there so that kids can play. I am even going to have a petting zoo in the vermeil room so that kids visiting me can have fun!
My favorite room is the library. I want to plant more flowers and trees.
I am going to have more fire alarms since there have been two fires in the White House so far. I am going to build some rooms in the east wing for poor kids who do not have parents.
I want to invite you to visit me at the White House.
Love,
Arya

Dear Mommy,
I love being the President's daughter.
This morning I hid under Daddy's desk in the Oval Office. I was with my little brother John John. I like to hide in the secret door of his desk. I like to listen to my Daddy make important telephone calls when I am in the office.
It was good to see my Daddy when he marched in the parade for his inauguration. It was fun to wave at everyone in the parade until my hands got tired from waving.
I like that my Daddy is President because he makes rules for the country and I don't have to make the rules.
I love having my pony named Macaroni. I like to ride him around the grass at the White House. I feel lucky that I get a pony because I am the President's daughter.
It is fun to go on the swing set on the White House lawn. I push John John on the swing set.
I am writing to thank you for making a first grade classroom for me in the White House. I like that my school is in my house because when I leave my homework in my bedroom I can just run upstairs to get it. My friends like to go my house for school. After school I take my friends to the White House movie theater and swimming pool.
I like living in the White House.
Love,
Caroline

My Journal

I was born on January 20, 2009, a very important day. When I was old enough, I was taken home by two pretty girls. They named me D.C, which I am sure means darn cute.

I now live in a big White House. Sometimes I get lost inside. The lady of the house is very nice. She gives me extra dog biscuits.

But, my favorite is the tall man. They call him Mr. President. He scratches me behind my ears until we both fall asleep.
I am a lucky dog.

I am a colorful rug. I am in the oval office of the White House. There is a beautiful eagle on me. I get stepped on by the President, but I don't mind. He wears nice shoes. I like it when the President sweeps me. It tickles.

Dear Mr. Schmid,
I write to you holding the pencil with my tongue. Thank you for giving me to Quentin for the afternoon. Well, first he took me to the White House, and then he took me to his father's office. Right when I was making an attempt to gulp up one of the little snakes (I can't remember what kind it was), Quentin's father stopped me. Then Quentin took me into another room where four Congressmen were waiting.
"How'd you get those three wooden snakes?" they asked.
And then I stuck up my head and hissed at them. And then the Congressmen said, "Disgusting! How did you ever catch a King snake?"
Quentin replied, "I didn't catch them. The pet store owner gave them to me."
I crawled up Quentin's sleeve to keep warm, and because of the crazy Congressmen that obviously didn't like me. Then Quentin's father came in and tried to pull me back down the sleeve, but as you know well, snakes can't slither backwards well. So they decided that the read best idea was to take off the jacket and let me crawl out of the top of the sleeve.
Then the other two little snakes crawled up the sleeve, too. And then we went out of the room all together and curled up in the jacket and we went out of the White House and then went back to our pet store.
It had been a nice day exploring. I was happy to be back at my house. The White House was way too full of people. When I got in, I immediately started gobbling down my food. The two little snakes did, too. Then Quentin went back to the White House. Thanks for leaving food in my cage for me.
Love,
Your King snake
