Winning Entry
Bayley F.
Caledonia, MI
Dear Dad,
I know that you had to move to Chicago in order to help the family. I just wish it was easier. I wish you were still in Michigan and that we could still do all of the things that we used to. It just isn't the same without you because of all the things we used to do. You took me to amusement parks, movies, and held all of my parties. Most of all, you were just being my dad.
I'm glad you can still come on weekends even though it takes three hours one way. You waste six hours of your well-earned weekend just coming to see all of us. I'm sorry that sometimes I might be at a friend's house if you come down but I hope you know that I still want to see you.
Don't worry about us back home. You need that job and you are doing it for us. Even though I may be a little sad about you leaving, I know that you are doing it for our family.
When you first told me that you couldn't come home for our conference, I was a little sad. I wish you could see how well I was doing. I sent you an email of my report card because I know that you wanted to see it. Also don't worry about the orchestra concert because mom recorded it and next time you come we will show it to you.
I hope that your job is at least fun and that you enjoy it. You gave up a lot for that job and they should at least treat you well. I really look forward to you coming home this weekend.
Love,
Bayley
