Reading Rockets Celebrates 10 Years!

Reading Rockets was launched in 2001, with a focused mission: to provide the very best research-based information and resources about teaching reading to young kids who struggle to learn. Our audience has grown to more than three million visitors a year, including parents, general and special education teachers, reading specialists, speech-language pathologists, psychologists, librarians, principals, volunteers and tutors — as well as our next generation of early elementary teachers.

We believed way back in 2001 that using video to "show, not just tell" was one of the most powerful ways to share knowledge about reading. We still believe that, and over the past 10 years have produced our PBS Launching Young Readers series and built a robust multimedia library of success stories about real kids, parents, and educators. We've also interviewed dozens of national reading experts and produced lively roundtable discussions to help you understand what the newest research means for our kids in classrooms across the country.
